CITY CRICKET

A DAY OF SMALL SCORES REMARKABLE BOWLING AVERAGES ■ Scoring at the Basin Deserve on Saturday was poor. Only one batsman made more than thirty. Ten made "ducks." Returned. Soldiers could do no better than total M- against North, and North have lost seven wickets for 56. North, instead of sending its team to the wickets in the order shown by experience to be best, had a draw for places, and the result was that the men were sent to the wickets in exactly "reverse order." This did not help the North 6core. Trentham, by scoring 167 against Old Boys, have not set their opponents a heavy task. Garrod's bowling was vory effective against the khaki eleven—seven wickets for 33 runs. Crawford's■ 62 not. out was the only big score of the innings and of the riternoon. Bowling for North against Returned Soldiers, Macintosh took six wickets for S runs. East and Petone met at Petone. Brice bowled praotically ihe whole of the team, and their total w.as only 38 runs.
