NATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Sir, —The captain of a large steamer which recently arrived here from Hom6 told me that his cargo was principally spirits and tobacco. Tin's can be easily verified at the Customhouse. Now, 1 think that every right-mind-ed person- -will agree thou there must be something far wrong with a British Dominion to allow this to be done at present from any cause whatever. Is there no remedy? We want "deeds not words" or excuses from our Government and legislators, and I shall be glad if you will assist in drawing their attention to the matter now that Parliament is about to meet.—l am, J. M. TUENBULL. April 6.
