ACTIVE SERVICE CHEVRONS
Sir,—Can you inform me, for the benefit of many returned soldiers who arc re-enlisting and others who are working on home service, what tlio small chevrons worn by the recently returned drafts stand for? And if they indicate one year's complete service one chevron, how is it that some of the men are wearing four chevrons, some one red and three blues, and others four blues? I was under the impression that one red was issued for 1914 enlistment and one additional blue for every year's completed service. Thanking you in anticipation,—l am, SOLDIER. [Members of the Main Body and of the First and Second Reinforcements are entitled to wear the red chevron on the forearm, with ;i blue chevron for each year of service subsequent to 1914. Men who loft New Zealand in 1014 with reinforcements later than the 2nd may wear a blue chevron for that year and an additional blue chevron for each subsequent year of service.]
