"PATRIOTIC & PROFITABLE"
! A GALL TO DAIRY FARMERS. ■ - The following note of importance to ■ daily farmers is from the pen of Mr. ;\V M. Singleton, Assistant Director :■ 'cf the New Zealand Dairy Division :— "The work which the Dairy Division ! - lias been doing all along the line or : assisting the owners of dairy herds | through C.O'.R. testing and cow-tesb- ; ing association effort is surely moio ■ than justified by the betterment which j is evidenced. The ma-rein between the ' production of our average cow and that of the better herds is evidence of the i \ great/work yet to be accomplished, i Economics as applied to New Zealand 1 . 'demand, that further improvement be made. It was reported recently that i . since the beginning of the war the f ■ -world's live stock statistics showed] a ' • decrease of over thirty-three million head in cattlcj sheep, and pigs. This 1 decrease is doubtless becomuig greater, ; t , and indicates an increasing shortness * of all food materials supplied by live I stock. It would therefore be a pat- - riotic as well as a profitable effort for our-dairvmen to do all that is possible in assisting to make good the defioit.
