Tho work of transferring military hospitals from the Public Health to the Defence Department is proceeding smoothly, and will shortly bo completed, so Sir James Allen informed a "Press" representative on Tuesday. The Defence Department will not take over civilian hospitals in which invalided soldiers are being treated, but tho Department will deal direct with tho hospital boards, instead of through the Public Health Department as in tho past.
