News comes to hand, says the Samoa "Times," from Faga, Savaii, of the arrival there of a party of three natives from one of the Tokelau Group, who had done the journey of 250 miles or so in an open boat. Natives oii the beach at the former place noticed a small boat outside the reef, endeavouring to make the passage inside, but evidently in difficulties, as there was a strong northerly wind, amounting almost to a gale, blowing from the north, with a heavy swell, in which the boat was labouring. As they watched tho frail craft, they saw her lifted by a wave and carried clean over tho reef, tho occupants being thrown out_ and the boat swamped. Several natives went out to their assistance and brought them in. The rescued persons were a youth and two girls, who spoke Samoan very imperfectly, and great was the surprise of their rescuers when they learned from whence the visitors had crme. They were escorted to the house of a native missionary near liv, where tliev were hospitably received and seemed little the worse for their hazardous voyage. It transpired that the party, consisting of a brother and two sisters, had left their home in the Tokelau Group lour days before. A family quarrel had occurred, they said, in' conscnuenee of which they decided to leuve the island and makefor Savaii. The boat they travelled in is about 14ft. lontr, with a sail and rudder, but no oars, and having thrown in a few green coconuts and a small quantity of copra, they loft one evening after nightfall on their long journey. Fortunately a northerly wind nrovailed thrmmiwnt. and tliev were able to make their destination without particular incident in tho time stated, thousih their stock of coconuts was exhausted by the timo thoy sighted land.
