Garrard now joined his captain, and played Crawford's first ball on to his stumps— 10-1-8-0. Coatos went to the crease. Crawford at about-this stage registered a maiden over, in which he secured two wickets. The remaining batsmen, however, did not make much of a stand, the innings closing for 110. Otago obtained tho 131 runs' required with the loss of three wickets.
