MUNITION WORKERS
APPEALED TO BY THE MINISTER TO REPLACE THE LOSSES London, March 27. The Press Bureau reports: "Mr. Winston Churchill, Minister of Munitions, has appealed to the munition workers to make the best efforts to promptly replace the serious losses of guns, machine-guns, and ammunition with a view to maintaining the armament and equipment of the fighting troops at tho Highest level. Our resources have, fortunately, been sufficient to accomplish this up to 'the present in every class of munitions. It is necessary to speed up the completion of important pwts of work in hand. There are certain classes of guns and shells which are specially useful now and which can be leleased in laTgelyincreased numbers in the next few weeks. Mr. Churchill gratefully acknowledges the tpontaneous assurances received from many districts that there will be no cessation of output during the Easter holidays.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.-Reutor. AN ENTHUSIASTIC RESPONSE EASTER HOLIDAYS GIVEN UP. (Rec. March 29, 5.6 p.m.). London, March 28. Munition workers all over the country are giving up the Easter holidays in* response to Mr. Winston Churcbiil's appeal. The Clyde workers, both male and female, held mass meetings, at which enthusiastic resolutions were carried in favour of the response. Trade union secretaries and organisers expect the activity of the workshops will be greater now than at any stage of the war. The workers are prepared for a long period of overtime.—Aus.-N.Z.
