cm: council's eesolution. At the City Council last evening the Major moved:—"That having heard the report of the delegate that visited Lake Waiktu-euioaiia, this <lomicil urge tho Government to bring the Aumgnhao and Waikaremoana schemes forward on account of the urgency for linking up the industries and requirements ol local bodies throughout the island.
Councillor L. M'Kcnzie said that he was one of those who had had the pleasure of seeing Lake Woikarernoana. It was one of tho wonders of the country.
Councillor J. E. Fitegerald moved an amendment:—"That whilst recognising the great resources of Lake Waikaremoana the council is of (/pinion that the Government should be urged to prosecute the Mangahao scheme, in terms of the promise nade by the Minister of Public Works." Councillor W. T. Hildroth seconded the amendment. He was afraid that between two stools they might come to the ground. He did not seo why the Government should not finance the work by issuing State notes and redeeming them out of the profits of the undertaking. Mr. Parry said the undertaking would return lo per cent, to 20 per cent. Councillor J. Castle said that the councillors who had visited the lake had not given a satisfactory report; they had just stated that they 'had had a good time. The Mayor said that all necessary information had been published. Tho Mayor's motion was carried.
