SAMOA
THROUGH CITY COUNCIL EYES. The Mayor reminded the City Council last evening of the "Samoa" meeting held last week to express tho opinion that Samoa should not be returned to Germany at tho end of tho war. Tho meeting had been very fully attended. The opinion expressed, he thought, was that held almost Throughout the country. Of course, there were bound to I he some dissentients, but there had not been a great deal of difference between "ourselves and those who differed from ■us." He moved that the council should endorse the resolution carried by the meeting. Councillor A..R. Atkinson seconded the motion. He said that on tho surface there was a yood deal of discord st the meeting referred to, but the Mayor had stated the position'fairly. Councillor R. A. Wright also said that there had been really no genuine opposition to the motion.' Councillor Luckie said the whole meeting .had been in favour of the resolution. . The Mavor's motion was carried.
