-£ 50,000 FOB ANGLICAN CHURCH PURPOSES.' By Telegraph—Press Association. • ■ Nelson, March 26. At a meeting of.the Diocesan Standing Committee to-day Bishop Sadlior announced large benefactions to the 'Anglican Church under the will of the lato Miss Frances Marsden. After providing for various personal bequests, tho testator devises sum of £10,000 for the erection of the'principal spiro of tho new cathedral, £5000 to tho Clergy Pension Fund, £5000 _to the Home Mission Fund, and certain other 6ums to bo assigned to church pur- ■ poses in the absolute discretion of the bishop. Special sums are bequeathed for the erection of a'church house for the • diocese and the rebuilding of Bishopdale, tho bishop's residence. Testatrix's house in Brougham Street is devised for the benefit' of the diocese, At present values the bequest to the dioceso will now.and in the immediate future amount to about £50,000, and ultimately the diocese will benefit to a larger extent. Out of the funds placed nt his disposal the bishon has offered £10.000 to the Cathedral Erection Board, conditional unon £30,000_ being contributed in the diocese within five years.
