SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
There was a very tig attendance at Miss M. Pickett's wnccrt on Thursday at the Sailors' Friend Society. Mr. Moore was in the chair and led the competition, and thanked those who had sent in sugar for oversea men. The Misses E. Pickett, Weldon, and M. Pickett, and Messrs. G. Walton, Albert Pickett, Kinlay, Hook, Gillmore and Gibbons, and Master Pickett contributed to the programme. A hearty vote of thanks was responded to by the hostess. The famous mission jug was put.up for auction on behalf of the sufferers in the Raetihi fire. The coppers of the men showered in readily. £2 Is. will he handed to the Mayor's Fund.
