POLICY OF LABOUR
STATEMENT BY MR. HENDERSON NO COMPROMISE WITH THE ENEMY ■ London, March 21. Mr. A. Henderson, in a speech in London, said it would be a complete denial' of the international policy of Labour to accept concessions, from tho Central Powers in the West, on condition that they are left in undisturbed possession of their conquests in the East. Such a diplomatic compromise must bo regarded as a betrayal of the cause for which international democracy stood. Labour had ranged itself by the side of the Russian people in their resistance to an iniquitous partition which a shameful militarist peace imposed. He was convinced that Japcneso intervention would seriously compromise the Allies unless it was made clear, first: That tho Russian people approved; second, that all the Allies, including tho United and China, sanctioned the intervention; third: that Japan gave an unequivocal pledge of disinterestedness, and promised to withdraw her troops immediately tho danger of Gornian occupation bad passed.—Aus.-N.Z.
