THE Y.M.C.A. SURPLUS FUNDS
Sir, —As a humble subscriber to the recent Y.M.C.A. fund, I read with surprise of the proposals for the disbursement of the excess subscriptions. These subscription's were given for the express purpose of providing comforts for the boys in the trenches, and I' think that the Y.M.C.A. should keep faith with the public, and expend the money they have obtained in a way that will conform with tho intentions of tho subscribers, instead of embarking on schemes which embody in their composition more of advertisement than of utility. The idea of using excess funds to send a commission to England is nothing short of scandalous, and I hope that the wholesome pressure of public opinion will be brought to bear on the executive of the Y.M.C.A, to force them to obey the wishes of their subscribers—l am, etc., NEMO.
