VESSELS IN AMERICAN WATERS
" ORDERED TO BE SEIZED. (Rec. March 21, 10.20 p.m.) New York, March 20. All Dutch shipping in American waters has been ordered to be seized. A proclamation claims that the seizure of ships is sn indisputable right and a military necessity.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
HOLLAND'S RELATIONS WITH GERMANY
A BREACH NOT ANTICIPATED. (Rec. March 21, 8.25 p.m.)
The Hague, March 20.
It is anticipated that Germany will make a great display of indignation auainst Holland, but not break diplomatic relations, because that would be against her own interests. Sho will probably start a bullying campaign, exacting counter-advantages. Germany does not contemplate war against Hol-land.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. DUTCH CANAL BOATS IN GERMANY NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN TO HOLLAND. (Itec. March 21, 8.25 p.m.) London, March 20. The "Dajly Telegraph's" Rotterdam correspondent states that there is a rising tide of anger against England and America. The papers severely criticise the Government's action. Tho "Tijd" compares t)ie feeling against England with that of the Boer War. The "Nicuwes" characterises the Government's action as a humiliating capitulation.
The correspondent adds: 'The Foreign Minister stated in Parliament that ho had not received the Allies' reply. Despite this, there is a persistent rumour in financial and shipping circles that a fresh crisis has arisen, also that there are complications with Germany, an an order lias been issued prohibiting the Netherlands inland waterway shipping going to Germany or Belgium. It is also said that the German Government refuses permission to Dutch canal boats now in Germany and Belgium to return to Holland."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
