The Otorohanga Maori Ladies' Committee have just sent through their chairwoman (Mrs. J. 'W. Ellis) a further (the third) sum of £30 to the Lady Liverpool and : Mrs. Poniare's Comfort Fund for Maori soldiers at Hie front. Major Buck writes to Mrs. Pomaro, in acknowledging the gills, and speaking of the receipt of 8000 titis (mutton birds) and 2000 tins of tohcroa.s, besides large parcels for every man, says:—"Jf you womenfolk who'have gone to all this trouble and exponse could have Been tlio way tho boys enjoyed thorn, 1 think you would have been ampiy repaid for your thoughtfulnoss on their liohnlf. You will realise there is nothing that iippenls to Maori boys no much in l(u> way of gifts as real Maori kui fi'iim the homeland." Major Illicit mentions that the Uaoris now form ti biilliilinn by themselves of rather over 1000 men,
