EDUCATION BOARD
The Wellington Education Board met yesterday. Mr. W. Allan presided. The financial statement said that the debit balance on current account on February 28 was £613. Cash in bank amounted to £13-11. Amounts on deposit we're: Bank of New Zealand, £4000; Public Trustee, £4000; War Loan Certificates, £1000. Resignations were accepted as follow:—Miss l'\ G. Advjco was received that the Department had granted £489 to be expended on the Island Bay school. If the headmasters arc agreeable, a half-holiday is to he granted to scholars to witness life-saving competitions one day this month. Appointments were made as fol-. low:—Hillersden.
