EFFECTIVE WORK BY BRITISH i AVIATORS ; 253 FLIGHTS CARRIED OUT ; (Roc. March 20, 9.45 p.m.) ! London, March 19. i In the House of Commons, Mr. J. I. ■■' Macplierson (Parliamentary Secretary > to the War Office) said that 253 flights \ had recently heen carried out in Ger- ] many, and only ten machines had been lost. Over a ton of bombs were dropped on Mannheim, and fight direct hits on largo ivories observed, on March 18. Our ■ airmen have carried out 38 effective : raids since October, dropping 48 tons of bombs. Tho air service was increasing the distance of its raids, in striking contrast to the enemy s air ac- ..; tivity. The Government had decided, ■ with permission of the Allies, to place '; maisons tolereos in French towns out of bounds for British troops.
