"PEACE IN THE EAST"

SPEECH BY GERMAN CHANCELLOR TERMS OF TREATY MADE WITH RUSSIA'S "CONSENT"! WORLD'S PEACE NOT YET . (Rec. March 20, 8 p.m.) . Amsterdam, March 19. Count von Hertling, Imperial Chancellor, speaking in the Reichstag, justified the peaco terms with Russia, which, be said, were made with the laiter's consent. "It is impossible to discuss tho Russian and Rumaniau terms with the Entente, owing to the enemy's brutal hypocrisy and iintruthfulnoss. Though wo have secured peace in the East, the world's peace is not yet. There is not the slightest inclination on tho part of the Entente Powers to abandon their, war-work, rather an intention is manifested to continue the terriblo we are destroyed. .We will not lose courage on this account, for we have prepared overything ready for further sacrifices, being firm as a rock in our confidence in our splendid command and heroic soldiers. The responsibility for continuance of the war lies with the enemy." There were loud cheers at tho conclusion of tho speech, mingled with hissing from tho Extreme Left.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
