CROWD RUSH MILITARY BARRICADE
ARRIVAL OP TRANSPORT AT LYTTELTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, March 19. When the transport arrived at Lyt> telton to-day, to their great disappointment, the/people were not allowed on tho wharf by the military authorities. The Mayor of Lyttelton, in a speech, said 'it was an insult to those who had boys coming home, and an insult to the boys themselves. Eventually the crowd broke through the rope barricade, but tho people were quite orderly. Further excitement was caused by a soldior falling overboard. He was rescued by a returned soldier, Sergeant Harold Hurd, D.C.M.
