MAXIMUM PRICE FIXED
PRESENT CHARGES TO STAND.
A Gazette Extraordinary was issued last evening fixing the maximum 1 price to be charged for bread. The schedules states:— (1) Tho maximum price of bread shall bo the standard price thereof on March 4, 1918—that is to say, in respect of every locality the current price' at which on that day goods of tho same nature and quality were saleable in that locality when sold in tho samo quantity arid on, the same terms as to payment, delivery, and otherwise. (2) Notwithstanding anything in this Order-in-Council, 1 tho Board of Trade may, by order made and published by it in such maimer as it thinks fit, authorise the sale of bread in any specified locality at a prico exceeding the standard price aforesaid by such amount as the board thinks fit; and nothing in this Order-in-Council shall apply to the sale of bread in that locality in accordance,with tho authority so granted by the Board of Trade (3) Any such authority may bo at any time' withdrawn by ' the Board of Trade by order mado and published by it in such manner as it thinks fit.
