BASE RECORDS AND DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS. Base Records Club played a team from Defence Headquarters yesterday. Headquarters winning the toss went to the wickets, tint their batsmen failed to gut going, and the side was dismissed for .the small total of G2._ Base Bawds replied with 293. In the. second innings Headquarters played out time fop the loss of two wickets, the score being; 221. Base Records won on the fir&f. innings. Details of the scoring are appended For Defence Headquarters in: the first innings, Suckling made 14, Fordyce 14, and Condliffo 8. Valentine took six wickets for 30 runs and Redmond three for 23. For Base Records,. .Blair made 45, Dempster 42 not cut, Valentine 41, Emmins 40, M'Leod 37, and Redmond 35. ' Cooch took three' wickets for 15 runs, Dind three for 107, Colleton two for 27, Condliffo two for 63. For Defence Headquarters in their second innings, Dind madr-124 not nut, Clayton 24, Condliffe 59.
OTAGO DEFEAT SOUTHLAND. By .Telegraph—Press. Association., Dunedin, March 18. The cricket, match Otago v. Southland concluded to-<lay, and resulted in a win for Otago by an innings and 56 runs. Otago made 313 in the first innings. Southland made 149 runs in the first innings (Gleeson 55, Poole 22, Gilbertson 211 and 108 in the second (Gleeson 21, Driscoll 36, Kingston 17). Hay took eight wickets for 70 runs in the first innings and four for 48 in tho second. Livingstone took four wickets for 33 in the second innings.
