FIRE ON THE HUIA
A TIMELY DISCOVERY.

After the coastal ■ steamer Iluia, which had a protracted voyage from Wellington, berthed at Dunedin, the hatches wero lifted with the intention of discharging cargo, when a watersidor discovered fumes issuing from a case nf plibsphorus. The case was hoisted on to the wharf, and the flames extinguished with several buckets of water:
