ENGLISH GLOVES
HOME MANUFACTURERS ABLE TO MEET DEMANDS. "English gloves are second to none in the world," said Mr. S. A. Woiskett, a warden of the Glovers' Company, in conversation with a "Daily News" repiesontativo recently. Mr. AYorskett, alluding to a recent' statement that for fabric in this country wo were mainly dependant- on Germany before the war, declared emphatically that to-day the English manufacturer is able to supply as many gloves as can possiblly he required. , Owing to tho weather," he added, "there has Loon, without doubt, some shortage of lined gloves. But the prices which! have been mentioned are an exaggeration. .Retailers aro able to supply splendid men's gloves lined for 9s. lid. a pair, and these gloves could not have been better before the war for 7s. Gd.
"The statement which has been made that at present it is practically impossible for retailers to buy gloves at any price' is grossly exaggerated and most misleading, and will, I am afraid, 'not only have a. tendency to injure the wholesale and retail glove trader, but also the English manufacturer, who is doing his best to cope with tho actual difhcu ties of the present situationdifficulties caused by the shortage of labour in this country."
