ESPIONAGE IN ITALY
GRECIAN IMPORTER AND HIS GERMAN MISTRESS ARRESTED. London, March 14. The Milan correspondent of tlie "Daily Chronicle" reports that Giorgio Manrogornato, a well-known successful grain importer, who was Greek Consul at Leghorn, has been arrested on a charge of espionage. ' _ The,authorities had noticed for some time that spies were lighting a series of Hares along the Tuscan coast, in order to guide the Austro-Gcrman submarines. It was suspected that Manrogornato was aiding the by meeting the crews on the seashore by night, and giving information regarding the sailings of ships, and giving supplies. The authorities sot n trap, and caught Manrogornato and his accomplices red-handed in a lonely sonside village occupied by Maurogornato's German mistress, who was also arrested. Manrogornato had. recently been ffi possession of large sums of money. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
