SOLDIERS SENTENCED
TWO GET TWO YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. In Trontham Camn Orders it is announced that two soldiers, having been convicted bv District Court-martial on charges of disobeying lawful commands given by their superior officers, have been sentenced to imprisonment with hard labour for two vcars. Tboir names are as under: —74,3-13 Pte. C. K. M'Cormack. Details; 74,341 Pte. -D. .Christian,; Details... . Convicted,on .a,, charge of "when nnrW orders for.active service, deserting ■His Majesty's'scrrice.'':-R(U00 Pte. S. J'. Wright, Details (late. Thirty-third Reinforcements), has b"en sentenced to detention for one hundred and twelve days. . The sentence in this case has been mitigated so that if abused ombarks for active sqrvice outside of New Zealand, then, upon arrival at the final' port of disembarkation, the uneWrod nortion of his sentence ■ (if any) shall bo remitted, and his New Zealand records shall bo endorsed accordingly.
For a similar offence. 65.709 Pte. E. L. Evans, Details (late Thirty-fourth Reinforcements), has been sentenced to detention for ninety days, andthe sentence in his case hns been mitigated in corresponding terms.
