A suggestion was made that one be put in the main South Island mail trains. ,
Sybil Vane, the diminutive Welsh prima donna, made her debut at the Now York Hippodrome on Januarv 21 as the third addition to the "Cheer Up" company. Her contribution to the already teeming entertainment, was two sons* by TUymond Hubbell and John L. Golden—"What a Wonderful Mate You Are," sung in the jungle scene, and ."Queen of the Nile,'' sung in the Oriental spectacle. The remainder of the performance is unchanged. "Lodoletta," iUascagni's latest opera, has- bee.i favourably received in New York. Caruso sustained the leading role. "The Bins: Buys" has now run ten weeks ii; Sydney, end there was no "last nights" sign up when the last mail left. A change will probably be made at Easter, when the firm's pantomime is due in Sydney. Williamson's pantomime, "Dick Whittington," commenced a short season in Adelaide last Saturday'evening. Sydney and Brisbane will follow, then New Zealand.
' "The Easiest Way," a strong, underworld drama, is said to have caught the fancy of the/ Melbourne public. Miss Muriel Starr figures in tho central character.
