A Live Triangle Stall. One of the "live wires" of the Red Triangle Day effort yesterday was the street stall presided over by Mrs. W. D. Stewart, who netted over £117 for the day's business. The Palestine dresses (made up by Mrs. Powles from material sent out by her husband, who is on active service in Palestine) were eagerly sought after and quickly disappeared. A miiioh of heather, presented by a gentleman appropriately answering to the name of "Mae" (bo was a Maclntyre o' that ilk), fetched, between one deal and another; £111 Miss Sutton's necklace brought £9.
Dorothy Brunton in America. Mrs. John Farrell has received a letter from that talented actress, Miss Dorothy Brunton, in which thero is plenty of evidence of home-sickness. She says that theatro-land in America is a big machine, with no sympathy or sentiment or friendship. Evidently Miss Brunton feels the difference between being an idol of a sympathetic public and "a stranger in a strange land." In her letter she states that she has promised to return to tho J. C. Williamson fold next year (1919).
The Maori ladies' hraneh of_ the Countess of Liverpool League, Wanganui, nave a concert recently in aid of Red Triangle Day, with the result that thev were able to hand over the sum of £66 10s. 2d. to the fund.
