A LEAGUE OF NATIONS
A SHAM—UNLESS ALLIES'WAR AIMS ARE REALISED MR; LLOYD GEORGE REPLIES TO CRITICS (Rec. March 15, 0.25 a.m.) London, March 13. Mr. Lloyd George, speaking at the Free Church Conference in tho City Temple, replied to the criticisms contained in some speeches, notably tho charge that the Government had not attached sufficient importance- to a League of Nations. The Premier declared: "A league will not bo obtainthought it could, and allowed tho Army thought it could, and allowed the army to ho disorganised, with the result that tliey had lost half tlieir own nation. There was no warmer advocate of :v League of Nations than the Kaiser, but his idea was a loagtio headed by Germany. Unless the Allies' war aims aro realised, leagues of nations will be shams, but if their ideals are realised a leaguo will be an established fact." The Premier deprecated harassing criticisms of the Government, and asked for fair play.—Aus.-NZ. Cable Assn.
