SOLDIER SETTLERS
INQUIRY AS TO THEIR WELFARE.
Tho executive of tho Now Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association is taking steps to gather information on the question of the settlement of discharged soldiers on the lrind; It has addressed a letter of inquiry to all returned soldiers who have nettled en land and whose addresses can be obtained, and hopes to loam tho experiences and the views of many of tho men. The settlers arc invited to offer criticism of tho system at present in operation and to make, suggestions for its improvement. Tho letter of inquiry asks the soldier settlers to givo information on the following points: (1) Aro the moans of transport of goods and access to your property satisfactory? (2) Has tho assistance by the Government in the matter of stock and equipment been adequate, and are there any directions in which you suggest that improvements could ho made? (3) Aro you satisfied with your property as a good business investment?
When replies have, been received, the executive of the association intends to frame a. report upon the wholo question of land settlement as it affects soldiers. It probably will publish a summary of tho replies,*as an ind'eation of how the soldier settlers are faring on their holdings in various parts of New Zealand.
