ORIENTAL CLUB
'There was a large -attendance .of members at the annual meeting of -'theOriental Football Club, which was -hejd in Godber's rooms last night. -Mr. 11. C. Kinvig was in tho chair. ■ : The annual report-mentioned "that during the season the club placed threo teams iir the' field—third; fourth, .oiid | fifth class. Owing to several prominent members of the third'class joining the Expeditionary I'We, this tea.vn was ! seriously depleted, and almost, invan- \ ably had to call the assistance of the j other grades. The fourth class met with a' fair amount of success, while 'the fifth class hoys'gave a splendid aci:ouut of themselves, being placed third on the list. Messrs. Caddiclc, Ferguson, and j Ppultcr were on various ■• occasions , 1 selected' for a Wellington representa-1 ; tive team. The club's thanks'were due ! to Messrs. T. Bush, T. B. Jordan, D. M'Leod, J. Brown, E. Perry, it. M'llraith, D. S. Patrick, 11. C. Kinvig, and Hornig for donations to the iunds. 'Under existing circumstances the .club's linancial position must be regardbd as very satisfactory, but it would be necessary to substantially increase the membership; in order to meet the drainage oh the funds through shortage of paying,members' subscriptions. The'thanks of tho club' were duo to Messrs.. M'llraitli, Perry, Jackson, Little, Buckenbxirg, and Hornig for assistanco given in coaching tho various teams. Ihe reiwH concluded'with an appeal to old members of tho club to give the coming j players the benefit of thoir expi-rience.
