MEETING
The furty-eifihlh annual meeting of the Wellington football Club was field in .the. V.iU.O.A. rooms last evening. Mr. J). Weir presided, and there was ii very good attendance of players and members.
The annual'* report expressed <leefp regret that so may members of thp. club who 'had joined tbo Forces had "gono "West." A'o fewer than 33 had been, killed in action, thrcß died of.wounds, and two posted as missing had sincebeen reported as believed to be killed. Of this number ten had been killed-or had died of wounds since the presentation of the la-st report. •■ During the past twelve • months 19 numbers had. been wouuded in action. The tot,ul casualties sustained by members of tjie club was 95. ' . ' :
! J'ho membership roll now stood at 166 actiro meinbors, 71 honorary, 23 : life, and 6 retired; total, 266. . Although the senior team was uot as successful as was anticipated, it gave a very good , , account of itself. ].t plaj , - ed eight: matches', and won half 'of them, scoring 82 points as against'Si by its opponents. The fourth class A ' team did remarkahly well. It plajed nine matches,. won- six, lost .one, land drew- one,, scoring 101 points agajinst 48. by its opponents.
