THE RED TRIANGLE
£100,000 APPEAL PROGRESS OF THE CAMPAIGN Interest in the Red Triangle appeal is growing keener as Red Triangle Day '(nest Friday) approaches. The appeal .'ss for £100.000 with which to carry on jthe work or the Y.M.C.A. for the New •Zealand soldiers in tho trenches. The I money is to be raised from the whole of New Zealand, excepting the Auckland district—the northern half of the North Island. This district is excepted ; because it raised £50,000 recently for ;the cause. Of the £100,000 sought, the • ;plan is to raise £50,000 in tho southern \ .half of the North Island (called in the lists the Wellington military area) and ; £50,000 in the South Island. . Of the : Wellington area's sharo (£50,000), Wel'lington city, and suburbs is to raise • : half (£25,000). As to the South Island, the Canterbury and Otago areas are' to ; .raise half the £50,000—£25,000 each. Cnristchurch city and suburbs are to raise £15,000, and the rest of the Canterbury district £10,000. Dunedin city and suburbs is masked to contribute ; ' £15,000, and £10,000 is to bo obtained from the rest of the Otago area. Now the target for Wellington city ■ and suburbs is £25,000. The impres- ' sion has been created that Wellington city has already about £29,000 in hand. ' That idea is quite erroneous. Actually, .Wellington has secured nearly £9000. The"following table.gives the Doinin- ! ion position as it was. known at noon
