'.GENEROUS OFFER IN AUSTRALIA. Some time ago (says the Sydney "Sun") Sir Samuel M'Caughey came forward with'an offer to insure recruits enlisting for service .with the A.I.F. iMr. W. G. Matehett, a pastoralist of ■ Nyngan, now residing- at- "Murrawanl)io," Strathfield, has now entered the arena with an offer to subscribe £200 per annum for the duration of the war towards paying premiums on life policies of soldiers who go to the front from the district of Nyngan. _ Mr. Matehett has also acred that, in the event of any single individual (with the exception- of Sir Samuel M'Caughey) contributing a larger sum than £200 annually for a similar purpose, he will immediately- raise his contribution to the level or the larger amount, and in the event of the donor being of local residence in Nyngan, or having local interests there, he will contribute in the ratio of £2 for every £1 over the amount specified.
