.—t, The Masterton Park Bowling Club defeated Greytown in a match played on Thursday by 15 points In an evening run in connection with tho Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club, held on Thursday, a 100 yds. handicap was won by L. Kerr, a 880 yds. handicap by F. Henderson, and a two-mile bicycle race by A. Oakley. Doth of the winners of the flat race baloug to Gladstone. The Masterton returned soldiers received no official welcome. The Mayor received advice at 1 p.m. that the men would arrive at 11.30 a.m. So far this month 1.15 in. of rain has been registered in Masterton. Nearly half the debenture issue of £5000 has been subscribed for the erection of a hostel in Masterton in connoction with St. Matthow's School. The Returned _ Soldiers' Club in Masterton iB nearing completion, and tlio work of furnishing it is being commenced.
