Wadding in St. Peter's Church,
• The marriage took place quietly yesterday afternoon of Miss Doris Dall, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Dall, of Kelburn Parade, to Captain Irwin Eric Faris, N.Z.M.C. Tho ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Watson, vicar of St. Peter's. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by Miss Hayward anil Miss Wilberfoss as bridesmaids. The best man was Lieutenant Doughty and the groomsman Lieutenant Jones, both returned soldiers. Tho bridogroom, who has but recently returned from the front, left with the Sixth "Reinforcements. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents.
The fortnightly moeting of the Upper Hutb Women's Patriotic Guild was held on Tuesday. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Read and her helpers for a donation of £14 135., the proceeds of .'i dance and concert given in aid of the Upper Hntt Soldjcrs' Parcels Fund. It was decided to" buy butter and biscuits with this money and post at once. Mombers are asked to attend the packing next Tuesday. It was also decided at the gathering to give a concert and dance in aid of "Triangle" Day.
The weekly "social" 'held under the auspices of the Featheiston Soldiers' Social Committee in the Town Hall on Wednesday "night- attracted tho usual number of soldiers and their friends. Mesdames Dawson, Carjyon, and C. Dixon, and Misses Bish and Toogood, assisted , by a soldier, provided the music for the dances. Mr. G. Hyland was M.C., and Mr. J. Lepinsld honorary doorkeeper.
Tim annual meeting of the AV.N.H. Gfirls' Club was held in the Esperanto Hall on Monday evening, when tho report and balance-sheet for the year were, presented. Mrs. Corliss, in a short address, congratulated the club on the yoar's work, and offered some nreful suggestions for fresh work. The following officers were Appointed for tue pnsuing year:—Mrs. Porter (president), Mrs. Corlisfi (vice-president), Miss Port (secretary), Miss Miller (treasurer), and Misses I'ettard, Cook, Seaman, Chambers, Cassoy, Alexander, Durraer, M'Cluggage (2), and Mrs. Veils a general committee.
Lady Hector, accompnnied by Dr. Elector, left by tho Mararoa for. the south last ovening.
Mrs. F. Nevillo and her little- daughter have left on a visit to Sydney. They are likely to be away for a couple of months.
Mrs. Seville, president of tho Hataitai branch of,the W.N.R., has been appointed representative of tho Red Cross section of the W.N.R V and any member of the reserve wishing to obtain information upon the subject should consult with her.
Another very pleasant monthly gnthpring of mothers, wives, and families nf soldiers and sailors was hold at Fetone on Wednesday afternoon, and despite the weather the room over the Grand was full. Tho Mayor_ presided, and a party from town, including Mrs. Porter (organising secretary), Misses Donner, J'ittard, and Sheppard, were present. Miss Pittard gav« an address upon "Motherhood," which was followed with close attention by all present. Tho Mayor gave a recitation in keeping with the subject just spoken about. A good musical programme was much enjoyed, and included songs by Mrs. Ralph Jones, Mrs. Casey, Mrs. Haith, Mrs. Smith. Mis s Donncr, and Mifs Vi Davis. Miss 8060 Walsh played all the accompanimonts. A message from Mrs. G. W. Ruesell (president of the honorary division of the W.N.R.) was read by the Mayor, conveying best wishes for a happy afternoon, and hoping to bo with them later. A number of mothers' badges were sold. The tea. arrangements were in the hands of the Mayoress and her committee, and were very successfully carried out. Miss Dorothy Bulkley, who, with Sister Houston, of Ghristchurch, returned to Wellington early this week from a visit to Australia, has been appointed school nurse to tho Napier district, and leaves for Hawlto's Bay on Saturday to take up her appointment. Nurse Everitt, masseuse and orthepaedic specialist, has removed to Mr. Hoby's buildings, 125 Upper Willis Street, where she may now be consulted at the Wollington Medical and Electrical Massage Institute.-
