Sho is Madame Ouee, a lady of high rank, and daughter of Sir Lo Fang Luh, for some years Chineee Minister at tho Court of St. James, London. He was knighted by Queen Victoria for tact and his ability in representing China during many tense years when misunderstandings strained the diplomatic cord. Consul-General Ouee and his wife make Melbourne their headquarters. The engagement is announced of Miss Enid Reed, younger daughter of Mr. J. R, Reed, K.C., to Captain George Niccol, M.0., Royal Field Artillery, son of Mr. George Niccol, of Auckland, states the Auckland "Star." Captain Niccol was in England at the time war broke out, and immediately offered his services to the Empire. The wedding will tako place before Captain Niccol returns to the front in Anril. Among the soldiers who last returned to New Zealand was Sergeant-Major Norman Green, who was accompanied by his wife (neo Mise Nancy Hartgill, daughter of Mr. W. H. Hartgill, of Dannevirke). Nursing Sister Teape, of tho Avonside Division of the St. John Ambulance Association, left Christchurch on Tuesday for Rotorua on active servico as masseuse. After spending a little time at Rotorua she will go abroad. For the past year Nursing Sister Teape has been studying at the Otago University, whero she took hor degree as a fully qualified masseuse. j
