PAPAROA MINERS IDLE
By TcleeraDh.-Presß Association. Creymouth, March 6. The miners at the Paparoa mine have been idle since Monday. The whistle blew as usual, but the men failed-to turn to. Tho exact cause of tho trouble at Paparoa is not ascertainable. It is said it might be any one of four cahscs, not omitting the military aspect.
It is understood locally that th® failure of the men to mume work is due to some disagreement in regard to weights, the men being paid a hewing rate on a tonnage basis. No further information was obtainable locally yesterday. • The Puparoa mine is only being wonted in a comparatively small way for the first debenture-holders, into whose' hands the property passed, when tlity company went into liquidation a few, years ago, but so far nothing in the! way of a dividend has been paid, be« fore or since the liquidation.
