HOW SIR STANLEY MAUDE DIED
GLOWING TRIBUTE BY MS, , LLOYD GEORGE. I (Rec. March 5, 10.10 p.m.) London, March 5. Tho Houso of Commons has unanimously adopted the grant of £25,000 to Lady Maude. After Mr. Lloyd Gcorgo had paid a glowing tribute to the late Sir Stanley Maude's services to the Empire, he mentioned that he died a victim to tho inbred courtesy of a fine character. He visited a plague-stricken area at the invitation of the inhabitants, who were anxious to welcome him for his many kindnesses, and though ho forbade his escort to eat or drink, he himself ran tho risk rather than offond his hosts. There was cholera in the cup and ho died in few days. Ho would always be remembered as one of tho great figures of the war, not only for his achievements, but his character;—lleutof.
