BUSH FIRES IN TARANAKI

» • (By Telegraph-fipecial Correspondent.) Hawera, March 5. Advice received from Puniho states that bush fires are raging in that portion of Taranaki. Tho fires commenced on Sunday, and favoured by the gale blowing, have travelled several miles down the road. Mr. W. Hevill, settler, of Warea, had an exciting experience while loading firewood. Spam from the burning bush set his dray on. fire, but he was able to extinguish the flames before much damage was done. It is stated that bush fires are also raging in the Koru district, where a settler's house is said to have been destroyed. '
