HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER
. « WAIKAREMOANA TO BE VISITED. The question of whether the _ Wellington district should bo, supplied with hydro-electric power from within its own confines or whether the whole of the southern half of the North Island should he supplied from a big supply scheme based on the overflow of Lako Waikaremoana is still a moot point. The Hawke's Bay people.are, naturally enough; keen on the Waikaremoana scheme, and the league formed to advocate its adoption has organised a big local bodv representation to visit the lake this "week. The Wellington City Council has been invited to send five representatives, and is accepting the invitation. The city's representative's will be the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, M.P.), Councillors George Frost, W. H. P. Barber, L. M'Konzie, and A. Veitch. They will leave Wellington to-morrow morning for Napier, and that port for Wairoa and Waikaremoana on Thursday morning. Most of the other local bodies between hero and Napier, and also from the Wangamii and Taranaki districts will participate in the visit to "the sea of shining waters.'.' On Recount of the departure of the Mayor and councillors for Napier tomorrow, the council meeting fixed for Thursday will be held this evening.
