SYDNEY STRIKE INQUIRY
THE OBJECTION TO THE CARD SYSTEM. Sydney, March 1. The Royal Commission inquiring into the card system in railway shops found it necessary to subpoena representatives of the union who declined to attend voluntarily. Their evidence showed that the reason for striking was fear that the system meant tho introduction of the American speeding-up system and other evil' effects. One witness said another objection was the introduction of the most up-to-date systom in the most out-of-date workshops.—Press Assn.
