STRONG WELLINGTON COMMITTEE FORMED, Tho first meeting for the transaction of business of tho Citizens' Committee that was set up at the Town Hall meeting, convened by His Worship the Mayor, will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in the Chamber of Commerce. It will be one of the largest and most representative committees that has ever been formed for a patriotic movement of this In addition to the citizens who were present at the first meeting, a number of leading merchants, bankers, and professional men I who were unable to attend the meeting have signified their willingness to act. on the committee, including:—Hon. J. G.'W. Aitken, Dr. A. K. Newman, M.P., Captain D. A. Ewan, Lieutenant G. F. Johnston, Messrs. Harold Beauchamp, D. W. Duthie, W. D. Stewart, S. Clarke-Johnston, A. W. Young, 0. A. Bendall, Nicholson, C. R. Smith, A. Pearce, James Macintosh, R. W: Waterhouse, Fisher, Louis Blundell, W. A. Kennedy, L. O. H. Tripp, Alexander Gray,' K.C., John F, Mills, J. S. Barton, F. Meadowcroft, W. L. Meek, William Allan, M. J. M'Eldowney, J. A. M'Eldowney, F. W. Vickery, J. M'Lean, M. Myers, F. W. Manton, 0. 51. Luke, and numerous others. The meeting will be attended by representatives of various patriotic bodies, and the committee, who have issued a number of invitations to citizens who were unable to attend the Town Hall meeting, invite any citizens willing to help in this movement and who have not received any invitation to also attend. The sum of £1000 has already been promised, and several firms and gentlemen have signified their intention of taking up the challenge given by Mr. George Wilson at the Town Hall meeting, who stated that his firm would contribute £500 if nine other sums of similar amount were forthcoming. The preliminary canvass will be commenced next week.
