Board informed the board yester-day-that He liad written to tho Minis-, ter of Defence respecting a sum ; of about £1000; whic- had;been owing. to the board • for - some time. .The money .was-due for. medical supplies. .'Repeated, but futile applications had been .made for .payment. For some considerable time payments by the Department had -been, very irregular. The hording back of the money was very inconvenient for the .-board. "I wrote on February. ,13j" said the secretary, "and I have '.heard nothing since." The secretary added that the Health Department was claiming against the board for £800, -half salaries of the bacteriological.. staff. He suggested that asthe hoard's undertaking to pay half these salaries was conditional on the Defence" Department's payment of the fees claimed, the board should withhold.the £800 until the fees claim was settled. .. /•'"'' ' ■ .'■
