VICTORIA COLLEGE

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL

A meeting of the Victoria Collego Council was held last evening. Mr. G. "Watson presided, aud there wero present: Hon. A. X. Maginnity, Rev. \V. A. Evans, Professors (Harrow and Hunter, Messrs. C. H. Bakewell, R. M'Callum, M.P., P. Levi, La Trobe, and It. AVright, M.1 , . The treasurer and registrar reported that tho sum of toUO had, by the council's direction, been withdrawn from the trust account in the Bank of New Zealand and invested in AVar Loan Debentures.

The report of the Finance and Business Committee, which was adopted, recommended :—

'lhat as the Post Office Savings Bank will not, permit of the opening of a second trust account, tho sum of £'.■64 3s. in the scientific research fund be invested in the present trust account.

That tho letter from tho registrar of the University with respect to the coordination of English and foreign universities bo referred to the Professorial Board.

That the registrar be directed to countersign all cheques paid by the college.

That the council appoint the chairman, Professor Hunter, and Messrs. l<. P. Wilson and C. 11. Bnkewel! as its representatives on the Tutorial Classes Committee.

That the accounts for the month, amounting to £1008 6s. 6d. be passed for payment.
