SOUTH AFRICA'S WAR FINANCES
SURPLUS OF £464,000. Cape Town, February 17. During his Budget speech the Minister of Finance (the Hon. H. Burton) announced a surplus for the current year of £464,000. He estimated the nest year's deficit at £403,000, but expected this would be wiped out without further taxation. The' Minister emphasised the marked increaso in the production of foodstuffs and industries since the war.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
