Colossal as is that figure, however, it is exceeded by the. fortune, of Mrs. E. 7i. Ilarriman, estimated at over £i'G,0()0,000, and that of Frau Krupp von Bohlen, which was assessed at £14,000.000 in January, ]01-1, and must have been considerably inflated by the war. Next to Frau Krupp, Europe's wealthiest woman would seem to bo Madame Lebaudy, who controls £8,000,000, but lives in a modest one-servant flat at Versaillies, and dovotes most of her incomo to charity..
