RAILWAY SERVANTS
TRIENNIAL CONFERENCE.
The triennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants concluded its sittings Yesterday. the following .Dominion - Executive officers were elected fo'r the ensuing term of three years:—President. .Mr R. Hampton (Christehurch), unanimously re-elected; executive couricilfe , Mes S?- F ' J - Carr (Auckland), A.-' Whisker (laumarunui),' AI. Lee and R Moore (Wellington), C. A.'Davis and W. Sulhvan (Dnnedin), D. Wilson and W. J. Elliott (Christehurch). Mr. C. E. -Wheeler was reappointed editor_ of the "Railway Review." An important alteration was made in the rules to provide' for future delegates to conferences [being elected under a system of- proportional representation, with the single transferable vote. The conference endorsed the action of the executive in agreeing to Air. Alack, general secretary, accepting a Beat, on tho 'Wellington Alilitary "Service Board. ■'■'■ A-motion condemnatory of the railway military ballot was defeated by a large majority. The conference unanimously endorsed the constitution of the Transport Advisory Board. On Monday the members of the conference held a lengthy conference with the Hon. W.' H. Herries, Minister of Railways, and with Air. E. H. Hiley, General Alanager of Railways, aiid Mr. R. W. M'Villy, Assistant General Manager, when a number of matters of general interest to the service were discussed. —.
