NO NEWS SINCE FEBRUARY 6 THE UKRAINE PEACE SETTLEMENT (Rec. February 13, 8.10 p.m.) London, February 12. The last news received from Petrograd was dated February G. Th'o cause of the silence is not known. The terms of peace show that besides maintaining the pre-war frontiers the Ukraine received the whole of the Volhynia strip in South-eastern Poland and part of Grodno.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BRITAIN MAY NOT RECOGNISE UKRAINE SETTLEMENT. (Rec. February 13, 8.10 p.m.) London, February 12. The British Government does not feel bound to recognise the Ukraine peace.—Reuter. MORAL EFFECT ON THE ENGLISH. (Rec. February 13, 11 p.m.) London, February 12. A message from The Hague says that the German Socialist-Majority newspapers disclose the fact that in Germany hopes are largely based on the moral effect of the Ukraine peace on the Allies. Long, faked telegrams describe how this anti-German alliance is tottering; how England is on verge of starvation and collapse, which the treachery of pacifist workers is expected to complete."—Aus.-N.Z. Advices from Vienna state that the peopio are madly overjoyed at the news of the Ukraine peace, shouting; "Now we will have plenty of food."— United Service.
GERMAN TRADE IN THE UKRAINE.
(Rcc. February 13, 11 p.m.) Amsterdam, February 12. Commercial syndicates are being formed in Germany, under Government control, for exploiting the Russian peace. Now joint stock companies are being formed for importing iron, oil, flax, and wheat from the Ukraine.— Reuter. •REPATRIATION OF WAR PRISONERS. (Rec. February 13, 8.10 p.m.) Amsterdam, February 12. The Russo-German delegates have signed an agreement under which unfit war prisoners will be repatriated. Similar agreements have been signed on behalf of Austro-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey.—Reuter.
