At a great • demonstration held, at Chicago to celebrate tho hundredth anniversary of the death of Koscnisko and the creation of a Polish national army to fight with the Allies in Trance, 20;000 Poles assembled. The first 500 recruits wore presented with two battle flags by M. Paderewski, the famous pianist. Lieut.-Colonol Hon. A. C. Murray, M.P., Assistant Military Attache at Washington, said: "The British Army is eagerly looking forward to welcoming the Polish army on the battlefields of France." It was . announced that, by order of the Chief of the' Polish Army in France, M. Paderewski had been appointed -an honorary private of the Ist Battalion of that army. "Your name will be called daily by the sergeant in calling the roll," the officer who received the colours told him, "and when it is called, each soldier will reply: .'Yes. Paderewski is here in the hearts of ; all of us'; , " "
